Film Review: “Adopting Haiti”

By: Alexsandra Hornett

Timothy Wolfer, a current student at Pacific Union College, recently shot the documentary film ‘Adopting Haiti.’ The film is a story about the struggle of one orphanage days after the Haiti earthquake shakes its foundations. The unique situation of 135 children who call ‘Maison des Enfants de Dieu’ home.

So what happens when supplies run out and no form of security exists? Do the children’s needs get taken into account when everything they’ve ever known falls to pieces around them?

The emotional story of average Americans taking it upon themselves to help Haiti and it’s future. After all, these kids will eventually grow up, and they will remember what has happened to them. Never giving up hope, the children long for new lives in America. If they get the chance to leave the destruction or not isn’t even up to them.

The hour long film, which is quickly gaining recognition in multiple countries, can be found on Hulu and other video hosting sites.
